Otherwordly Sci-Fi Meets Hard-Boile Noir In Upcoming Miniseries Weird Work This July

Legendary British artist Shaky Kane (The Bulletproof Coffin) and writer Jordan Thomas (Frank at Home on the Farm) will introduce readers to the corrupt, seedy streets of Stellar City in the upcoming, Weird Work. This all-new, four-issue miniseries is set to launch this July from Image Comics.

After months of gang shootings, Weird Work follows Detective Ovra Sawce who is paired with a new partner on a triple homicide. But what were a billionaire’s assistant, a hood-turned-cult leader, and Sawce’s former partner doing in that warehouse?

“I always knew I was writing this series for Shaky,” said Thomas. “So I wanted to play to his strengths by filling the world with a cast of wild, almost psychedelic, characters, whilst also delivering a tough, taut, crime tale in the spirit of comics I love like Brubaker & Phillips’ Criminal and Darwyn Cooke’s Parker adaptations.”

Tribeca Festival Announces 2023 TV and NOW Lineup

The 2023 Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX, today announced its lineup of world premieres of new and returning television and original indie episodic series. The Festival, which takes place June 7-18, showcases a selection of highly anticipated programs from networks and streamers at the forefront of groundbreaking storytelling including Disney+, Max, Apple TV+, Starz, AMC, A&E, BET+, and more.

This year’s TV lineup features eight series premieres and two first looks at returning classics. World premieres include Max’s Full Circle about an investigation into a botched kidnapping that reveals long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in present-day New York City directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring Dennis Quaid, Claire Danes, Timothy Olyphant, Zazie Beetz, and Jharrel Jerome; Prime Video’s The Horror Of Dolores Roach, a Sweeney-Todd inspired tale with Justina Machado; and BET+’s Diarra From Detroit, a dark comedy executive produced by Kenya Barris that centers on a divorcing school teacher, written and starring Diarra Kilpatrick.

The program also features subject-centric stories from HBO Sports Documentaries’ The Golden Boy, a definitive documentary unpacking the life of cultural icon Oscar De La Hoya, executive produced by Mark Wahlberg and Mario Lopez; Disney+’s Choir based on the inspirational story behind America’s Got Talent finalists the Detroit Youth Choir; A&E’s Exposing Parchman, an investigative documentary that explores the efforts to reform the Mississippi correctional system led by a team of attorneys on behalf of the inmates of Parchman Prison featuring Jay-Z; and Paramount+’s De La Calle, a docu-series that takes a journey into the Latino diaspora with special guests Fat Joe and Juelz Santana among other artists.

Enter the Vortex: Denver’s portal to a multifaceted music festival where the dance floor is the quintessential immersive experience. Meow Wolf is once again partnering with Live Nation for its second year of the festival, taking place at The JunkYard, a one-of-a-kind venue in the heart of Denver. The offbeat arts and entertainment company will dramatically transform the space into a halcyon multi-stage dreamland.

Brimming with off-the-wall performers, chill zones, experiential art, and an eclectic curation of the hottest multigenre lineup of artists, this festival is guaranteed to be like every Meow Wolf exhibition: indescribable, and yet all the buzz. Lionsgate’s “White Bird” Trailer Released

“White Bird” is the latest from from director Marc Forster (Finding Neverland and Christopher Robin), and screenwriter Mark Bomback.

It is based on R.J. Palacio’s book, White Bird: A Wonder Story, and like Wonder before it, is an uplifting movie about how one act of kindness can live on forever.

In White Bird, we follow Julian (Bryce Gheisar), who has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman. To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother (Helen Mirren) finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage — during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger. They find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother (Gillian Anderson) risks everything to keep her safe.

“White Bird” stars Ariella Glaser, Orlando Schwerdt, Bryce Gheisar, with Gillian Anderson, and Helen Mirren.

The film is set for release on August 25, 2023 by Lionsgate.

Dark Sky Films Brings “The Third Saturday In October Part V and Part I” to Digital and VOD May 5th

What if a lost horror franchise made during the peak of the slasher genre was unearthed today, but only two of the films could be restored? Hulu Releases Teaser for Australian Cult Series “The Clearing”

Based on the book In The Clearing by J.P. Pomare, the eight-part series is set to premiere with two episodes on May 24.

The series tells story of a woman “who is forced to confront the nightmares of her past in order to stop a secret cult intent on gathering children to fulfil its master plan.”

“The Clearing” stars Teresa Palmer (“Discovery of Witches”), Miranda Otto (“The Unusual Suspects,” “Homeland”) and Guy Pearce (“Jack Irish,” “Mare of Easttown”) lead a stellar line-up of Australian talent including Hazem Shammas (“Safe Harbour”), Mark Coles-Smith (“Mystery Road”), Kate Mulvany (“The Twelve”) and rising star Julia Savage (“Blaze,” “Mr Inbetween”).

Filmed across Victoria, “The Clearing” is an emotional and psychological thriller that follows the nightmares of a cult and a woman who’s forced to face the demons from her past in order to stop the kidnapping and coercion of innocent children in the future.

Bupkis, a half-hour live-action comedy, is a heightened, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life. The series combines grounded storytelling with absurd elements from the unfiltered and completely original worldview for which Pete is well known.

The film stars Pete Davidson, Joe Pesci, Edie Falco, Charlie Day, Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, Kenan Thompson, Chase Sui Wonders.

Pete Davidson also served as writer and executive producer of Bupukis, along with Judah Miller and Dave Sirus. Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, and Erin David also served as executive producers.

Avenged Sevenfold Announces Fall Leg Of ‘Life is But A Dream…’ North American Tour

Today, multi-platinum headliners and famed heavy metal rock group Avenged Sevenfold have announced the second leg of their extensive Life is But A Dream…North American tour – featuring support from Falling In Reverse. Produced by Live Nation, leg two includes stops in Nashville, Denver, Austin, and more before concluding at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena on October 15. Fans will have the opportunity to hear the group’s first single in seven years, “Nobody”, and their new album Life is But A Dream… for the first time live during the 30 show outing.

Public Image Ltd. Announce New Album “End of the World”

Public Image Ltd. (PiL) have decided to continue plans to announce their 11th studio album and first album in 8 years, End of World, today, following the sad passing of John’s wife of more than 4 decades, Nora Forster, on 5th April.

End of World will be released on 11th August 2023 on PiL Official via Cargo UK Distribution, followed by a 38-date UK and European Tour.

Earlier this year, PiL released “Hawaii,” the most personal piece of songwriting and accompanying artwork that John Lydon has ever shared. The song is a love letter to John’s wife Nora, who sadly passed away from Alzheimer’s on Wednesday 5th April. A pensive, personal yet universal love song that has resonated with many since its release in January, the song sees John reflecting on their lifetime well spent and in particular one of their happiest moments together in Hawaii. John said, “Nora loved the album, she wouldn’t have wanted us to postpone it or change any of our plans.” Previously he has said of “Hawaii,” “It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most.”

The band began writing and recording End of World in 2018, during their 40th anniversary tour. After The Great Pause, the band regrouped in the studio and “there was just this massive explosion of ideas,” Lydon says. The result finds PiL set to release 13 of the best tracks they have ever written.

The announcement comes with the release of new single “Penge,” which John has described as, “something of a mediaeval Viking epic.”

According to the official synopsis, the film is a satirical comedy, about a down-on-his-luck publicist who discovers a recently released mental health patient who looks just like a misbehaving movie star. The publicist subs him into a film, creating a new star. But fame and fortune are not all they are cracked up to be.

Along with Day, the film also stars Ken Jeong, Ray Liotta, Kate Beckinsale, Adrien Brody, Common, Jason Sudeikis, Edie Falco, and John Malkovich.

Charlie Day is recently with the ensemble voice cast of the massive blockbuster hit “Super Mario Bros Movie”.
