Allen Danziger Returns to Horror in Satirical Slasher “The Weedhacker Massacre”

The-Weedhacker-MassacreBuffalo 8 will release The Weedhacker Massacre on digital platforms October 17. The meta-horror comedy, directed by Jody Stelzig, follows a film crew shooting a remake of a notorious slasher movie at the site of the original murders, only to find the masked killer has returned.

The film stars David Treviño (Rent Free), Molly Sakonchick (Storage Locker), Bobbie Grace (Fear the Walking Dead), Sean Reyna, Parrish Randall (Circus of the Dead), and Allen Danziger of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame, who also co-created and executive produced the project. The script was written and produced by Ray Spivey.

Following its world premiere at the Golden State Film Festival, The Weedhacker Massacre earned multiple awards at international festivals, including Best Comedy at the New York International Film Awards. The 95-minute feature is unrated.

The Offspring Announce 2026 North American Leg of Supercharged Worldwide Tour With Bad Religion

The-OffspringFresh off sold-out tours across Australia, Europe, the U.K., and the U.S., punk rock veterans The Offspring will bring their Supercharged Worldwide in ’26 Tour to North America early next year.

Promoted by Live Nation, the 24-date run begins January 16 in Bakersfield, California, and concludes February 24 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Fellow punk icons Bad Religion will appear as special guests on all dates. Tickets go on sale October 10, with artist presales beginning October 7 via LiveNation.com

The tour follows a landmark year for The Offspring, whose album Supercharged produced the chart-topping single “Make It All Right,” reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock & Alternative Airplay, Active Rock, and Alternative Airplay charts. The band also earned multiple entries on Spotify’s Billions Chart and made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS This Morning.

Known for collaborations with artists ranging from Yungblud and Ed Sheeran to Queen’s Brian May, The Offspring continue to celebrate three decades as one of punk’s most enduring acts.

Image Comics Rallies 30 Series for Youngblood Team-Up Variant Campaign Ahead of Rob Liefeld’s Relaunch

YoungbloodImage Comics will celebrate the return of Rob Liefeld’s Youngblood this November with a coordinated wave of variant covers spanning 30 ongoing titles. The “team-up” variants will feature characters like Shaft, Badrock, Chapel, and Diehard illustrated by a lineup of top artists including Gary Frank, Ivan Reis, Bryan Hitch, and David Finch.

The campaign precedes the release of Youngblood (2025) #1, marking Liefeld’s return to his signature creation and the franchise’s first new issue under his direction in years. The launch will include 27 retailer exclusives, black-and-white editions, incentive variants, and the 30 crossover covers rolling out across Image’s current catalog.

“Seeing these legendary artists reimagine Youngblood has been the most exciting experience for me as both a creator and a fan,” Liefeld said. Image publisher Eric Stephenson added that the initiative “brings together the full creative energy of Image” ahead of the series’ debut.

Originally released in 1992, Youngblood #1 was the first comic published by Image and remains one of the best-selling independent titles of all time, with over one million copies sold.

Marvel Unveils Predator: Badlands #1, Comic Prelude to Upcoming Film From Dan Trachtenberg

Predator-BadlandsMarvel Comics has revealed Predator: Badlands #1, a one-shot prequel to the upcoming 20th Century Studios feature Predator: Badlands, directed by Dan Trachtenberg. The issue arrives November 12, just days after the film opens in theaters on November 7.

Written by Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Bounty Hunters) with art by Elvin Ching in his Marvel debut, the comic is produced in close collaboration with Trachtenberg, who contributes a foreword. The story follows a young Yautja warrior named Dek on a mission to recover lost technology, leading to an encounter with an ancient threat.

The film stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and introduces a new chapter of the Predator saga, set in the future on a remote planet. The prequel comic expands on that world, introducing key characters and events that connect directly to the movie.

Predator: Badlands #1 will feature multiple variant covers and is available for preorder now at comic shops.

Albert Birney’s Retro Sci-Fi Thriller Obex Set for Theatrical Release in January

ObexFilmmaker Albert Birney’s new feature Obex will open in theaters on January 9, 2026, following its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

Written by Birney and Pete Ohs (Erupcja), the black-and-white fantasy is set in 1987, where a reclusive man and his dog become ensnared in a mysterious computer game that turns their analog world into a surreal digital nightmare. The film stars Birney alongside Callie Hernandez, Paisley Isaacs, Frank Mosley, and Tyler Davis, with music by Josh Dibb (Deakin of Animal Collective).

Described as a lo-fi vision of early computing and isolation, Obex blends nostalgic visuals with psychological tension to explore the blurring line between technology and reality. The film is produced by Emma Hannaway, Birney, James Belfer, and Ohs, with cinematography by Ohs.

Yungblud Sets 2026 North American Tour, Teams With Aerosmith for Upcoming EP

YungbludFollowing his sold-out North American run earlier this year, Yungblud will return to the road in 2026 for a 24-date headline tour. The Live Nation–promoted trek kicks off May 1 in Michigan and includes stops at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.

The announcement comes on the heels of his performance of “Zombie” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the debut of his single “My Only Angel,” which entered Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart at No. 1. The track is the first release from One More Time, a collaborative EP with Aerosmith due November 21 via Capitol Records.

Yungblud recently honored Ozzy Osbourne with a live tribute at the MTV Video Music Awards and released his fourth studio album Idols earlier this year. His feature-length documentary Yungblud: Are You Ready, Boy?, directed by Emmy and BAFTA winner Paul Dugdale, premiered in U.K. and European theaters this summer, with North American release details forthcoming.

Sally Kirkland Stars in Hollywood Satire Sallywood

sallywoodBuffalo 8 will release Sallywood on digital platforms November 14. The comedy-drama, written and directed by Xaque Gruber, stars Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Sally Kirkland in a role inspired by her own career.

Based on a true story, the film follows Zack, a young writer from rural Maine who drives to Los Angeles to pursue his Hollywood ambitions. By chance, he meets Kirkland, who hires him as her assistant. As Zack becomes immersed in her chaotic world, he works to revive her fading career.

The ensemble includes Tyler Steelman, Tom Connolly, Eric Roberts, Michael Lerner, Keith Carradine, Jennifer Tilly, Maria Conchita Alonso, Kay Lenz, and the late Lenny Von Dohlen. The film features songs by Rufus Wainwright, Toni Basil, and Smokey Miles.

Sallywood premiered on the festival circuit, where it won more than 50 awards. The 90-minute feature will be released unrated by the MPAA.

Sundance Institute Names 10 Projects for Inaugural Filmmakers Fund Backed by Chase Sapphire Reserve

2025-Sundance-Recipients-AnnouncedThe Sundance Institute has announced the recipients of the inaugural 2025 Sundance Institute Filmmakers Fund, a $120,000 grant program sponsored by Chase Sapphire Reserve. Ten projects were selected across feature film, documentary, Indigenous, Catalyst, Artist Accelerator, and Ignite programs.

Grantees include Roni Jo Draper and Marissa Lila Kongao with the documentary We Arrive With Fire | Ne-Kah Nuue’m Mehl Mech, Cris Gris with Forward, Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs with High Steel, Masami Kawai with Valley of the Tall Grass, and Khaula Haider Malik with Alien Nation. Other funded works are from Mackie Mallison (Everything Must Go), Efraín Mojica and Rebecca Zweig (Jaripeo), Steve Pargett (Blacked Out Dreams), Huda Razzak (Home of the Birds), and Walter Thompson-Hernández (If I Go Will They Miss Me).

“This partnership allows us to provide artists with critical support, empowering them to take bold creative risks and bring their powerful stories to life,” said Hajnal Molnar-Szakacs, Director of the Artist Accelerator Program and Women at Sundance.

The Filmmakers Fund is part of the Institute’s Artist Accelerator Program, which provides fellowships, funding, and year-round artist support to filmmakers from diverse backgrounds.

Bushwick Film Festival Returns Oct. 1 to 5 With Nearly 100 Films, Including 10 World Premieres

Bushwick-Film-FestivalThe 18th Annual Bushwick Film Festival will take place October 1 to 5 across Brooklyn, showcasing nearly 100 films from emerging indie voices in New York and around the world.

This year’s lineup features 10 world premieres, 11 East Coast premieres, and 24 New York premieres. Highlights include Chilean thriller Todos Somos Justos, among other international and local selections.

Founded in 2007, the festival has become a platform for independent cinema with a focus on underrepresented voices. The 2025 edition carries the theme “Meet Us at the Movies,” encouraging audiences to gather in person to experience films together.
