Wil Wheaton To Host “Gamemaster” ESports Reality Show

A new esports reality show, GAMEMASTER, will debut on a streaming service in Spring 2020. The nine-episode show will feature Wil Wheaton as the Commissioner/Host and showcase 12 amateur esports contestants from across the U.S. Ripped from their gaming chairs and plunged into our world, these gamers will live together in a house under the inescapable spotlight of a competition being broadcast on platforms around the globe. The contestants will be announced soon.

Over the course of nine episodes (featuring more than two dozen video games), the reality show will find fan favorites, mortal enemies, awesome games, cool gear, and tremendous audiences — all in a quest to discover the one, true “GameMaster.” Twelve amateur gamers start out, someone goes home each week, and two will battle it out at the finale to grab the $100K cash prize and claim the title.

GAMEMASTER is being produced by Georgia-based Peach Maria Productions (pronounced muh-RY-uh), and will be powered by AMD.

“GAMEMASTER takes the love of gaming and elevates it to a whole new level through the first immersive, multi-platform, head-to-head competition for both casual and diehard gaming fans,” said show creator and executive producer John Colp. “Our players won’t play the same game from noon to night. They will play different games throughout and, at the end, the person who has the best cumulative score will be crowned the champion.”

“Gaming is part of almost all of our lives, whether on consoles or computers or phones, we’re all gamers in some way,” says executive producer Laurie Lockliear. “GAMEMASTER celebrates the joy, tech and humor that gamers love – whether you’re a professional player or you’re playing solitaire on your phone!”

Dark Sky Films Brings “The Dark Red” to Theaters + Digital March 6th

Written and directed by Dan Bush, The Dark Red is ranked the #1 movie at FrightFest Film Festival by Entertainment Focus.

The film is a sophisticated, supernatural revenge thriller that will appeal to fans of Unsane and The Uninvited.

The film stars April Billingsley (The Walking Dead, Last Vegas), Kelsey Scott (How to Get Away with Murder), and Rhoda Griffis (Parental Guidance, The Blind Side)

Here is the film’s official synopsis:
A young woman is committed to a psychiatric hospital claiming that her newborn has been abducted by a secret society called the Dark Red — an ancient, underground cult that harvests and controls an incredibly rare blood type that gives one the power to hear and guide another person’s thoughts. She says that she is special: that she carries a pure and powerful strain of the blood like nothing seen before, and that the society sees her and her child as its next evolution or perhaps its greatest threat, should she turn against them.

Is the Dark Red entirely a figment of her imagination a complex coping mechanism to overcome a terrible personal tragedy or is there some truth behind her story?

The Marvels by Kurt Busiek Coming This May

“Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime.” That’s how acclaimed writer Kurt Busiek describes his new ongoing series, THE MARVELS. Alongside artists Yildiray Cinar and Alex Ross, MARVELS will be the most sprawling series ever to hit the Marvel Universe where any characters can show up for adventures that can and will take them anywhere.

With the entire Marvel Universe at its disposal, this expansive series will feature everyone from the Marvel Universe’s first heroes to its latest superstars.

“The whole idea of THE MARVELS is to be able to use the whole Marvel Universe — not just all the characters in it, but all the history of it. The sweeping scope of the whole thing,” Busiek said in an interview with marvel.com.

“Big stuff can happen in the Marvel Universe, but we usually see it confined largely to the Avengers in AVENGERS, to the FF in FANTASTIC FOUR, and so on. THE MARVELS is intended as a freewheeling book that can go anywhere, do anything, use anyone. It’s a smorgasbord of Marvel heroes and history. It’s not a team. It’s a concept, or a universe, depending on how you look at it. THE MARVELS features the marvels — all the many and varied characters of the Marvel Universe. The heroes, the villains, the oddities — all of it. There’ll be popular characters of today, there’ll be obscure characters from long ago — heck, there’ll be story threads that take place in the past, or possibly the future. We’re not limited to just the present. And there’ll be new characters, too, from the street-level to the cosmic. There are three new marvels in the first issue, although a couple of them are only seen for a panel or so. But we’ll get back to them. I’d say “the sky’s the limit,” except in the Marvel Universe, there’s a lot going on beyond that sky. And it’s all open to us.”

“Knives Out” Sequel Officially Happening

By Creative Media Times

Lionsgate

Private detective Benoit Blanc is set to return to the case for a sequel to last year’s boxoffice and critical hit “Knives Out”, this according to Deadline.

The article says the original’s director, Rian Johnson is already developing the sequel, which could potentially lead into a franchise for distributor Lionsgate. The studio has clearly been searching for its next major franchise after The Hunger Games ended, and it certainly looks like the Daniel Craig starrer fits the bill.

The star-studded film was a big success for the studio, grossing $300 million worldwide against a relatively modest budget of $40 million, becoming of the surprise hits last year.

The film went on to receive plenty of award nominations, including Golden Globe noms for a Musical or Comedy category, including Best Motion Picture, Best Actor for lead star Daniel Craig, and Best Actress for Ana de Armas.
