HBO has released the official teaser for It: Welcome to Derry, a prequel series expanding the world of Stephen King’s It. Set in the early 1960s, the show explores the events leading up to the It films and the origins of Pennywise the Clown.

Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise, joined by a cast that includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso. The story is expected to focus on the town’s history of disappearances and the destruction of the Black Spot, a key event from King’s lore.

Developed by Andy and Barbara Muschietti along with Jason Fuchs, the series follows the timeline of the recent It films rather than the original novel. Muschietti directs four of the nine episodes, with Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane serving as co-showrunners.

It: Welcome to Derry premieres this fall on HBO and Max.
