“Mission: Impossible” Sequels To Be Filmed Back-To-Back

Two new “Mission: Impossible” films are said to be in the works, with Henry Cavill and Alec Baldwin potentially returning.

There has been plenty of “Mission: Impossible” related news this week, and with good reason. The last installment Mission: Impossible – Fallout which was released this summer was the biggest installment yet in the hugely popular film series,grossing nearly $800 million and was very well received by critics.

Christopher McQuarrie is set to undertake two more additional Mission: Impossible films, which will be shot back-to-back, and with tentative release dates of summer 2021 and summer 2022,” Variety reports.

Series lead Tom Cruise is also set to return as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, this week Cruise
teased a cryptic video on Twitter, which McQuarrie himself shared on his own account. “Mission Accepted,” the director posted. McQuarrie is a frequent Cruise collaborator. In addition to directing and writing the last twoImpossible films, he also directed another Cruise starrer Jack Reacher.

Per Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision, Henry Cavill and Alec Baldwin are also being considered to return. Cavill played John Walker in Fallout, while Alec Baldwin joined the cast in 2014 for both Fallout and Rogue Nation.

Henry Cavill will next be seen as Geralt in Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher, which is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series of the same name. Baldwin is in this year’s awards contender BlacKkKlansman and will next be seen in the upcoming comedy Before You Know It.
