Lady Gaga Goes Nude For Fame Perfume Ad

‘I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous,’ the Mother Monster tweeted before dropping the edgy image.

By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga tweeted out the print ad for her Fame fragrance late Monday (July 16). And the shot leaves very, very little to the imagination.

The black-and-white photo features a fully nude Mother Monster wearing a black mask, with tiny men climbing up her body, strategically placed to cover her more scandalous parts. Shot by famed fashion photographer Steven Klein, the ad’s tagline reads, “The First Ever Black Eau de Parfum.”

Lady Antebellum speaks on Springsteen silencing

LONDON (AP) — The members of Lady Antebellum say they are disappointed that Bruce Springsteen was silenced at his Saturday night gig at London’s Hyde Park.

The country trio was the support act for The Boss at the concert. Organizers cut off his microphone when his show, which featured a surprise duet with Sir Paul McCartney, ran late.

The band’s Hillary Scott says, “I’m sure there was definitely a reason. I hear that they had a very strict curfew in Hyde Park.”

Organizers Live Nation and Westminster City Council have been criticized for pulling the plug too early. Live Nation released a statement after the incident saying the show was stopped because of “health and safety” issues.

Lady Antebellum are in the U.K. as part of their European tour.

Speaking on Monday night before a performance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, the band said their British shows have been “pretty wild” and that they can’t wait to come back.

Nexus 7 tablet sales off to fast start

By Salvador Rodriguez

Good luck getting a Nexus 7 — the Google tablet has sold out from many of the retailers carrying the device.

The seven-inch screen device is Google’sfirst in-house developed tablet, and many have said it is the first true challenger to Apple’s iPad. Now that sales have begun, it seems consumers might agree.

The Nexus 7 has been available for pre-order from Google since it was unveiled last month, and recently other retailers have begun carrying the tablet on their sites too. But now most list the Nexus 7 as sold out, back-ordered or have a shipping wait time of a couple of weeks for the tablet.

The Google Play store lists “SHIPS SOON” on their Nexus 7 page and says the device will take a week or two to arrive.

Warner Bros Civil War? Its Rotten Tomatoes Suspends Comments On Its ‘Dark Knight Rises’ After Movie Reviewers Threatened

By NIKKI FINKE

Warner Bros owns Rotten Tomatoes (through the social movie site Flixster.com). Warner Bros also owns The Dark Knight Rises (with co-financier Legendary Pictures). Now the studio finds itself with the weird and rare dilemma of protecting movie reviewers who hated the movie from furious Rotten Tomatoes readers. AP reports tonight that RottenTomatoes.com for the first time ever suspended user comments today on movie reviews of the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy hitting theaters Friday. Why? Because the comments savaged and threatened those critics who wrote negative reviews, including Marshall Fine of Hollywood & Fine, Christy Lemire of The Associated Press, and Nick Pinkerton of the Village Voice. However the movie overall has an 84% positive rating on RottenTomatoes.com.

Apple’s next iPhone to feature ‘slimmer screen’

Apple is expected to unveil a new iPhone later this year with a slimmer screen thanks to updated touch-screen technology, a report said Tuesday.

The next generation iPhone, referred to by fans as the “iPhone 5”, is being manufactured by Asian component makers, Dow Jones Newswires quoted unnamed sources as saying.

Its panels will use “in-cell technology” integrating touch sensors into the LCD, it said.

That makes a separate touch-screen layer unnecessary and reduces the screen thickness by about half a millimetre, Dow Jones quoted DisplaySearch analyst Hiroshi Hayase as saying.

The new technology will also boost displayed image quality, and help Apple cut costs as it would no longer have to buy touch panels and LCDs from separate suppliers, the report added.

It said Japanese liquid crystal display makers Sharp and Japan Display Inc as well as South Korea’s LG Display Co were currently mass producing panels for the next iPhone.

Apple is widely expected to launch the device in the third quarter of this year, around 12 months after the release of its hugely popular iPhone 4S — the firm’s first new product following the death of co-founder Steve Jobs.

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment on the report or the next iPhone’s release date when contacted by AFP.

The report came amid heated competition from rivals such as Samsung, whose flagship smartphone the Galaxy S III uses a 4.8-inch (12.2 centimetre) screen that is thinner than the current iPhone.

Apple posted a $11.6 billion profit in the first three months this year, led by record sales of iPad tablet computers and iPhones — the latter surging 88 percent year-on-year.
