Gotham Awards: ‘Moonlight’ Won Big; Complete Winners List

The film awards season has officially begun, and “Moonlight” appears to be on a glorious path. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the movie won best feature at the 26th annual Gotham Independent Awards on Monday. “Moonlight”, which chronicles the life of a young black man as he struggles in rough neighborhood of Miami, also won best screenplay, best ensemble and the audience awards, a good start to boost the movie’s momentum towards next year’s Academy Awards.

The 2016 Gotham Independent Film Awards honors the best independent filmmaking, and were hosted by Keegan-Michael Key on Monday night at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
