Trailer: “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” Soars

By Creative Media Times

Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures has released a brand new trailer for “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World,” the second and final sequel to the hugely successful DreamWorks film franchise based on Cressida Cowell’s books.

Written and directed by Dean DeBlois, “The Hidden World” features the voices of actors Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Kit Harington, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T. J. Miller, Kristen Wiig and F. Murray Abraham.

The series characters have come a long way. The once awkward teenager Hiccup is now the chief of the Viking island of Berk, while his dragon Toothless has found love of his own. But there is also trouble in the horizon in the form of the film’s villain Grimmel.

Based on the director’s recent interview, the series will wrap up in an emotional note. “We thought about it for a long time and came up with what we think is a bittersweet way to say goodbye to these characters, but the right way,” DeBlois recently told EW.

“How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World arrives in theaters on February 22, 2019.

Here is what the film’s synopsis says:

What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives. In this next chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies: the village chief as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind. As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.

Sandra Bullock In Thrilling “Bird Box” Trailer

By Armando

Netflix enlists its own Hollywood A-lister for its post-apocalyptic horror film “Bird Box.” Set for release later this year, the film sees Sandra Bullock trying keep her kids out of danger while also blindfolded.

“If you hear something in the woods, you tell me. If you hear something in the water, you tell me. But under no circumstances are you allowed to take off your blindfold,” Bullock’s Malorie tells her children.

Already, many are comparing its premise to the blockbuster hit “A Quiet Place” from earlier this year: the world’s population is being annihilated and a mysterious force is responsible for it. This time, the protagonists have to avoid seeing it to save their lives as they take a harrowing journey to safety.

However, “Bird Box” is in fact based on a 2014 eponymous novel from Josh Malerman (lead singer of The High Strung), the film rights of which was bought by Universal Studios in 2013, back when Andy Muschietti was attached to helm. Muschietti has since directed the colossal boxoffice horror hit “It.”

This should not diminish the potential of “Bird Box”. The film, seemingly taking place across different time periods, looks genuinely thrilling and Bullock is always solid. The comparisons to the John Krasinski-directed film may, in fact, only increase its visibility. No pun.

Also in the film are Sarah Paulson, Rosa Salazar, Danielle Macdonald and John Malkovich. Directed by Susanne Bier. Its also set to make its world-premiere on November 12 at AFI Fest where many films take a dive into awards contention.

“Bird Box” will hit Netflix and select theaters Dec. 21.

“A Whale Of A Tale” Documentary Release Set

Megumi Sasaki’s award-winning documentary A WHALE OF A TALE will be released on iTunes in the US, Canada and UK on Tuesday, October 30.

In 2010, Taiji, a sleepy fishing town in Japan, suddenly found itself in the worldwide media spotlight. THE COVE, a documentary denouncing the town’s longstanding whale and dolphin hunting traditions, won an Academy Award and almost overnight, Taiji became the go-to destination and battleground for activists from around the world.

Can a proud 400-year-old whaling tradition survive a tsunami of modern animal-rights activism and colliding forces of globalism vs. localism?

A WHALE OF A TALE reveals the complex story behind the ongoing debate. Told through a wide range of characters including local fishermen, international activists and an American journalist (and long time Japanese resident), this powerful documentary unearths a deep divide in eastern and western thought about nature and wildlife and cultural sensitivity in the face of global activism.
