Emmy 2019: Game of Thrones, Fleabag Take Top Awards

By Creative Media Times

Game of Thrones lost in a lot of categories it was nominated in, but in the end, the HBO fantasy drama television series took home Outstanding Drama series.

Along with Peter Dinklage winning best supporting actor in a drama, and its 10 awards at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys, the Thrones tied its own record of 12 Emmy trophies for a single season.

In one of night’s biggest surprises, Ozark’s Julia Garner took supporting actress for a drama, a category dominated by the cast of Game of Thrones including Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Fiona Shaw, Maisie Williams and Gwendoline Christie.

Ozark had another surprise in another category dominated by Thrones in the form of Jason Bateman, who won outstanding directing for a drama series.

The host-less 71st Primetime Emmy Awards was broadcast live on Fox this year from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
