“I think they’re attempting hybridization, they’re upgrading on every planet they visit,” says Olivia Munn’s character Casey Bracket in the first trailer for “Predator”, unveiled today by 20th Century Fox.

The first trailer shows a young boy Rory played by Jacob Tremblay, opening a mysterious package (which he probably shouldn’t). In it we see him pick up an alien object that seem to trigger a spaceship to crash into the earth’s atmosphere. We then see a collage of action scenes, some quick glimpses of the Predator while a scientist try to figure out the threat it poses.

The upcoming film action horror sci-fi is the fourth film in the Predator series. The original, directed by John McTiernan (Die Hard) and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger was released in 1987 and became that year’s second biggest hit (next only to Beverly Hills Cop II). The original film has since been considered one of the greatest action films by genre fans and appeared in “best of” lists in many trade publications.

The film’s director Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) appeared in the film as radio operator Rick Hawkins who was later ambushed by the extraterrestrial creature.

Also in the film are Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key and Sterling K. Brown. ‘The Predator’ is set for release on September 14, 2018.
