By Creative Media Times

Pittsburgh-born rapper, singer and producer Mac Miller died on Friday in Los Angeles of an apparent overdose, various media sources are reporting. He was 26.

The artist, born Malcolm James McCormick, has struggled with substance abuse throughout his career.

In January 2013, Miller admitted to Complex: “I love lean; it’s great. I was not happy and I was on lean very heavy. I was so fucked up all the time it was bad. My friends couldn’t even look at me the same. I was lost.” Last month, he was charged by the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office with a DUI after a car accident in May.

Miller’s debut studio album, Blue Slide Park, was released by Rostrum Records in 2011 and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.
