By Creative Media Times

Walt Disney Pictures

The first footage released months ago teased that Bob Parr / Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) will be at home raising the kids, and that looks to be the case for our beloved superhero as shown on the latest trailer for “Incredibles 2”. “I’ll watch the kids. No problem,” he says.

Here we see Mr. Incredible grappling with the daily home routines and parenting issues. The film’s hilarious new posters definitely drive that message as well, which shows Mr. Incredible ironing on one, and their costumes on a basket of laundry on another.

Bob also have to deal with Jack-Jack’s developing powers and ability to transform into a somewhat menacing creature. “Done properly, parenting is a heroic act,” says Brad Bird’s Edna Mode.

Meanwhile, a new villain with a sinister plot is out, and it looks like it will be Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) who will be busy fighting crime.

Wim Wenders’ Documentary Feature Release Date Announced

By Creative Media times

Focus Features

Wim Wenders’ Pope Francis documentary “A Man of His Word” is set for release domestically in the U.S. on May 18, 2018, Focus Features announced. The announcement coincides with Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent for Christians around the world.

The documentary is written and directed by Wim Wenders, who was previously nominated for documentaries The Buena Vista Social Club (1999), Pina (2011), and Salt of the Earth (2014).

Here’s a partial synopsis of “A Man of His Word” courtesy of Focus Features:

Pope Francis – A Man of His Word is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary about him. The pope’s ideas and his message are central to this documentary, which sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today’s global questions.

The film’s direct-to-camera visual and narrative concepts engage the audience face-to-face with the pope, creating a dialogue between him and, literally, the world. Taking questions from people of all walks of life, Pope Francis responds to farmers and workers, refugees, children and the elderly, prison inmates, and those who live in favelas and migrant camps. All of these voices and faces are a cross section of humanity that join in a conversation with Pope Francis.

While this “symphony of questions” provides the backbone for the film, it also shows the pope on his many journeys around the world, with footage of him speaking at the United Nations, addressing the Congress of the United States, mourning with those gathered at Ground Zero and at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem. He speaks to prisoners in correctional facilities and to refugees in Mediterranean camps. We see him travel to the Holy Land (Palestine and Israel) as well as to Africa, South America and Asia.

James Hetfield Joins Cast Of Ted Bundy Movie

By Armando

Metallica frontman James Hetfield will soon make his big-screen acting debut as he joins the cast of “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” an upcoming thriller film from Voltage Pictures, Variety reports.

The film will focus on notorious serial killer Ted Bundy and his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer. Currently in production, the film will be shown from the perspective of Elizabeth. It was unveiled at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and features Zac Efron as Bundy with Lily Collins playing his girlfriend.

Hetfield is set to play Officer Bob Hayward, “a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car, but wisely suspecting much worse.”

Joe Berlinger is helming “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.” He was nominated in 2012 for an Oscar Best Documentary Feature in 2012 with the late Bruce Sinofsky for helming “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory.”

Hetfield’s casting might seem to come out of left field, but Hetfield and Berlinger had actually collaborated previously when Berlinger and Sinofsky directed and produced “Some Kind of Monster,” the 2004 rock documentary which follows Metallica throughout studio rehearsals and features various concert footage of the band. Later that year, Berlinger released a book “Metallica: This Monster Lives,” which chronicled his experiences during the creation of the documentary.

Other previously announced cast of “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” were John Malkovich, Haley Joel Osment, Jim Parsons, Kaya Scodelario, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan Terry Kinney and Dylan Baker.

Bringing Sound to the Screen: An Interview with Film Composer Alex Geringas

Eric Gasa

When talking about his work, Alex Geringas can’t help but excitedly chuckle. The Moscow born, German-raised, and LA-dwelling musician has had a steady rise to success from penning failed pop singles back in the 90’s to writing big screen movie scores, and collaborating with pop legends like Cher and Kelly Clarkson.

During my chat with Geringas I had the opportunity to speak with an idiosyncratic man dedicated to both his family and craft. In his latest project, writing the score for Netflix’s Trolls: The Beat Goes On! Geringas channels his inner Wagner; infusing hilariously overdramatic tones to one of the most charming, quirkiest kids shows on TV today. The juxtaposition fits his personality perfectly; a man of the dignified arts not afraid to join in on the fun.

Other scores to Geringas’ credit includes Pitch Perfect 3, Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh, Ice Age: Collision Course, and The LEGO Ninjago Movie.

How did you first break into the music industry?

It was back in 1998, I was living in Germany and a friend of mine told me, ‘Hey man, let’s write a hit!’ At the time I knew nothing about writing for artists and then he told me lets write about something everybody likes and bring it to a publisher. I thought it was all talk. We wrote a song about a topic we both thought everybody liked, vacation. We played it to the publisher, who liked it, then the record label sent it to a radio station, and then we had our first release.

But this also has to be the biggest flop in my career to date because nobody bought the single. There was a producer though that heard our song and reached out to me to write one with him for a rap group. That first single would become my first Top Ten hit in Germany. Our second release together became the theme song for the first episode of Big Brother in Germany.

As a composer and songwriter, which comes first, the lyrics or the melody?

I am and always will be a melody guy. I love working with lyricists, but I also love setting a concept with them and developing that idea.

Who are some of your musical inspirations?

One of my biggest musical inspirations is John Williams, the film composer. I love the variety of styles that he has composed. And of course, there is Alexandre Desplat who is just phenomenal in how he found a dialogue where no words are spoken in, The Shape of Water. Absolutely fantastic. That is where I would like to be someday.

“Deadpool 2” New Trailer And Poster; Reveals Cable

By Creative Media Times

Marvel Entertainment . 20th Century Fox

“Deadpool 2” introduces Josh Brolin’s villain character Cable in the latest trailer for 20th Century’s summer tentpole. “I was born into war, bred into it. People think they understand pain, but they have no concept of it,” says an intense time travelling cybernetic mutant soldier Cable.

But once Ryan Reynolds’s goofy, snarky superhero Deadpool sees Cable’s arm looking like an unfinished green screen, he interrupts the introduction. “Why are the visual effects not done? It’s a metal arm! It’s not like we’re trying to remove a mustache!,” an obvious dig at the digitally removed mustache of Henry Cavill in Justice League.

With the exception of Cable’s introduction, the title character’s trademark wisecracks and quick shots of returning characters from the original, the trailer is light on plot details overall. Which in this age of spoilerific trailers and adverts can only be a good thing.

The Canadian actor has been teasing fans with various images from the film since production. Yesterday was one of those days, releasing the film’s hilarious and strangely amusing “Flashdance” inspired new poster on Twitter.

Directed by David Leitch, from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool 2 also stars Morena Baccarin, T. J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand and Jack Kesy.

Deadpool 2 is set to storm theaters this summer on May 18.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Netflix Launches Trailer for Marvel’s “Jessica Jones”

By Creative Media Times

Netflix

After the release of the teaser last year, Netflix has now unveiled the full trailer for “Jessica Jones”, giving us an idea what we can expect the second season will be about.

The trailer shows our tough-as-nails protagonist (Krysten Ritter) at the bar, drinking away her tragic past.

This was followed by quick cuts of the mysteries that the hero will be dealing with, the gruesome death of her parents, the clandestine experiments that gave her powers, and chasing her tormentors as she discover what happened to her. “It takes a monster to stop a monster,” she says. And with her investigations, she learns that they may be others like her. “How many others are there?,” she asks an unknown character.

All in all, it seems to be in an excellent spot of being an exciting, action-packed superhero movie while also addressing more weighty issues.

Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by an incredible returning cast that includes Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse) and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez, among others.

Marvel’s JESSICA JONES on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (“Twilight”, “Dexter”), Raelle Tucker (“True Blood”), Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil”, “Marvel’s Luke Cage”, “Marvel’s Iron Fist”) and Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil”, “Marvel’s Luke Cage”, “Marvel’s Iron Fist”) who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.

Jessica Jones is set to return to Netflix on March 8.

Here’s the synopsis for the second season of Jessica Jones:

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

“Skyscraper” Super Bowl Spot

By Creative Media Times

Universal Pictures

Its been a good year for Dwayne Johnson so far with the surprise success of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, topping the box-office for 5 non-consecutive weeks and a planned sequel moving forward.

The action hero will be back this summer with the action thriller “Skyscraper”, and its first full trailer was recently released by Universal after its Super Bowl spot on Sunday. It looks like an interesting take on Die Hard with Johnson playing a man with a prosthetic leg, running on cranes and leaping skyscrapers.

The film reunites Johnson with his “Central Intelligence” director Rawson Marshall Thurber who also wrote the film. Johnson plays Will Ford, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader, who now assesses security for skyscrapers after having a leg amputated.

“You’ve built the tallest, most advanced building in the world,” Johnson’s Ford tells the building’s owners. “But you’ve brought with it every single safety and security challenge that I can think of. Not only have you brought them all indoors, but you’ve trapped them 240 floors in the air.”

Skyscaper, which also stars Neve Campbell, Chin Han, and Roland Møller and is set to open on July 13th.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:

Global icon Dwayne Johnson leads the cast of Legendary’s Skyscraper as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Sawyer, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building…above the fire line.

Guillermo del Toro Wins DGA Awards

By Creative Media Times

The Shape of Water. (Fox Searchlight Pictures)

Directors Guild of America handed out their top honors last night, giving Guillermo del Toro its top honors for helming leading awards contender “Shape of Water,” further cementing Guillermo del Toro as frontrunner for the Oscars.

Guillermo del Toro wins feature award for the fantasy drama film, winning over over Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”), Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Christopher Nolan (“Dunkirk”) and Jordan Peele (“Get Out”).

“The Shape of Water” also dominated 2018 Oscar nominations, earning 13 nods including best picture, best director and best actress for star Sally Hawkins.

Equal parts fantasy and romance, ‘Water’ continues director del Toro’s fascination with monsters and elements of dark fantasy in a historical setting similarly seen in Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), the director’s last major awards contender.

Back to DGA, Reed Morano won the award for Dramatic Series for The Handmaid’s Tale, while Jordan Peele, also an Oscar nominee, won big with the First-Time Feature Award for Get Out.

The DGA Awards is another strong of indicator of overall Oscar voter perception of films in contention: only seven DGA winners failed to win the academy award best director, the most recent being Ben Affleck, who won the DGA award for “Argo” but failed to secure Oscar nomination.
