The BAFTA Film Awards wrapped in London tonight with One Battle After Another taking control of the board.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s political thriller, which came in leading with 14 nominations, walked away with six wins, including Best Film and Best Director. Sean Penn picked up Supporting Actor, while the film also scored for Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing — firmly planting it as one of the year’s major contenders heading into the Oscars.
There were surprises along the way. Robert Aramayo stunned the room with a Leading Actor win for I Swear, adding to his EE Rising Star Award victory. Jessie Buckley earned Leading Actress for Hamnet, which was also named Outstanding British Film.
Meanwhile, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners made a strong showing with three wins, including Original Screenplay and Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku.
