Netflix has released an intense new trailer for the upcoming Season 3 of its hit series 13 Reasons Why, and it reveals the death of one of the main characters, football player Bryce Harper (played by Justin Prentice).
“Who Killed Bryce Walker?,” the trailer asks, along with snapshots of the characters suggesting that “they’re connected by their secrets.”
“I need to know what happened to my son,” says Bryce’s mother says in the trailer. “If any of you know anything, please say something.”
Also reported today is that the show is coming to an end. According to Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has renewed the show for its fourth and final season at Netflix.
Based on the novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, the show originally followed the story of Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) who takes her own life after experiencing a series of demoralizing circumstances brought on my people around her at school, a series she outlined in 13 cassette tapes which she left to her schoolmates. Season 2 dealt more about the aftermath of her death and connected some loose ends from Season 1 finale episode.
Langford, however, will not be part of the upcoming season. The trailer also features a new narrator (Langford read the first two episodes).
The show’s ensemble cast includes Dylan Minnette, Alisha Boe, Christian Navarro, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Ross Butler, Miles Heizer, Devin Druid, Anne Winters, Aijona Alexus, Sosie Bacon and many more.
Season 3 is set to hit Netflix on August 23 with 13 episodes, similar to Seasons 1 and 2.
