A new crime drama starring Scott Speedman is arriving on ABC with the premiere of R.J. Decker.

The series follows R.J. Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer and former convict who attempts to rebuild his life as a private investigator in South Florida. Drawing on his past connections with both criminals and law enforcement, Decker takes on unusual cases while trying to avoid slipping back into the trouble that once landed him in prison.

Speedman said the character’s previous career gives him a unique perspective on the job.

“His previous life as a news photographer definitely got him into the underworld of South Florida,” Speedman explained, noting that the experience left Decker familiar with both police and criminals as he tries to start fresh.

The series blends crime-solving with humor and character-driven storytelling as Decker navigates bizarre cases and the unpredictable world around him.

R.J. Decker premieres Tuesday on ABC, with episodes available to stream on Hulu the following day.
