Spaceballs 2 is officially in the works, with Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis, and Daphne Zuniga reprising their iconic roles in the long-awaited sequel to the 1987 sci-fi parody classic. The film is slated for theatrical release in 2027 via Amazon MGM Studios.
Brooks, who turns 99 this month, returns as Yogurt and also serves as producer. The new film is described — in true Spaceballs fashion — as a “Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.”
Josh Gad co-wrote the script with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, and is expected to star. Josh Greenbaum directs. Keke Palmer and Lewis Pullman also join the cast in undisclosed roles.
Plot details remain under wraps, but the first teaser has been released, featuring Brooks joking: “After 40 years, we asked, ‘What do the fans want?’ But instead, we’re making this movie.”
