Also earning impressive nomination count are Drake and Post Malone, each earning 17 noms, followed by Travis Scott with 12 nominations, the late XXXTentacion with 10, and recent chart topper Ariana Grande with nine.
Cardi B recently made history after becoming the only female solo rapper win the best rap album at the Grammys for her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy.
She also topped the Hot 100 chart last year with “I Like It” featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny and “Girls Like You” with Maroon 5.
Kelly Clarkson announced some of the nominees with country duo Dan + Shay on Thursday morning’s Today show at NBC. Clarkson is also set to host the show for the second year in a row, while Dan + Shay are also nominated in seven awards this year.
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards is set to be broadcast live on NBC on May 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
