Blades of the Guardians Heads to North American Theaters in February

blades-of-the-guardiansWell Go USA Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to Blades of the Guardians, the large-scale historical action film directed by legendary martial arts filmmaker Yuen Woo-ping. The film is set for a theatrical release on February 17, 2026, timed to the Chinese New Year.

Based on the popular comic by Xianzhe Xu, Blades of the Guardians stars Wu Jing, who also serves as producer, alongside Jet Li, Nicholas Tse, Yosh Yu, and K-pop idols JUN (Seventeen) and Winwin (NCT).

Set during China’s Sui Dynasty, the film follows a mercenary tasked with escorting a mysterious mission across the Western Regions, only to find himself pulled into a dangerous political scheme.

With Yuen Woo-ping at the helm, the film leans heavily into classical martial arts spectacle, blending large-scale action choreography with historical intrigue. The release continues Well Go USA’s long-standing focus on bringing international action cinema to North American audiences.

Lionsgate Acquires TIFF Breakout ‘The Furious’ From XYZ Films

Furious-filmLionsgate has picked up worldwide rights (excluding mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao) to The Furious, the TIFF Midnight Madness fan favorite that drew standing ovations at its world premiere. A theatrical release is planned for 2026.

Produced by Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and developed with XYZ Films (The Raid franchise), the film marks the feature directorial debut of veteran action choreographer Kenji Tanigaki (Rurouni Kenshin).

The Furious follows a tradesman whose daughter’s abduction pulls him into a brutal criminal underworld. The cast includes Xie Miao, Joe Taslim (The Raid), Yayan Ruhian (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum), and Jija Yanin (Chocolate).

“We were blown away by The Furious, it redefines martial arts action,” said Lionsgate EVP Lauren Bixby.

The deal was negotiated by Brandon Hill for Lionsgate and Pip Ngo for XYZ Films. Edko Films financed and will release the film day-and-date in Chinese territories.

Scott Adkins Battles for Survival in WWII Drama “Prisoner of War”

prisoner-of-warScott Adkins leads the upcoming World War II action drama Prisoner of War, which will debut in select theaters and on VOD September 19. Directed by Louis Mandylor, the film follows British SAS officer James Wright (Adkins), who is captured by Japanese forces and imprisoned in a Philippine POW camp.

As Wright and his fellow captives face the looming Bataan Death March, they are forced into violent death matches staged for the entertainment of their captors. The story charts their struggle for survival and the possibility of escape in the face of brutal conditions.

The film is written by Mark Clebanoff and Adkins, with additional contributions from Peter Shinkoda and Michael Copon, who also appear in the cast. Alongside Adkins, the ensemble includes Shinkoda (Falling Skies) and Copon (One Tree Hill).

Prisoner of War is set for release from WellGo USA Entertainment.
