A talk show where autistic and neurodivergent adults ask the questions is coming back for round two.
THE ASSEMBLY returns November 1 on CBC and CBC Gem with six new episodes and an expanded cast of over 30 interviewers. Season two guests include Zach Galifianakis, Jay Baruchel, Hudson Williams, Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin, singer-songwriter Lights, and Miss Universe Canada Ashley Callingbull.
The format is simple but powerful. Each episode, a different celebrity sits down for an ask-anything interview. The questions are unpredictable, direct, and completely unfiltered. It’s part revelation, part comedy, all heart.
“Our interviewers bring such a fresh, honest energy to the traditional talk show,” says Jennifer Dettman, CBC’s Executive Director of Unscripted Content.
THE ASSEMBLY became a surprise hit after its debut last fall, winning a Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction, three Telly Awards, and a Golden Sheaf Award. The Canadian version is adapted from French series Les Rencontres du Papotin, which launched in 2022 and has since gone global. International editions have featured Antonio Banderas, David Tennant, Stephen Fry, and even French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Being back for a second season shows that the series is resonating with audiences,” says executive producer Sean De Vries. “It’s heartening to have a hit show that thrives on authentic human connection.”
THE ASSEMBLY premieres November 1 at 9 p.m. on CBC TV and CBC Gem, with extended Producer’s Cuts streaming early that morning.
