Amazon MGM Studios has released the first official trailer for Project Hail Mary, the upcoming sci-fi adventure starring Ryan Gosling as a lone astronaut tasked with saving humanity. Based on Andy Weir’s best-selling novel (The Martian), the film opens in theaters March 20, 2026.
Directed by Oscar-winning duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Lego Movie), the story follows Ryland Grace, an amnesiac astronaut who awakens aboard a mysterious spacecraft. As his memory returns, Grace realizes he’s humanity’s last hope—and not entirely alone. The trailer gives fans their first look at Rocky, a surprising alien companion who plays a major role in the film’s emotional and scientific journey.
The cast also includes Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Milana Vayntrub, Isla McRae, and Bastian Antonio Fuentes. With a script by Drew Goddard (The Martian), the film blends high-concept science fiction with humor, emotion, and interstellar stakes.
Project Hail Mary will debut in theaters on March 20, 2026.
