The show that has been scheduled to happen on Sunday, 4th June 2017 will be graced by big names in the entertainment industry like Justin Beiber, Coldplay, Pharrell Williams, Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Niall Horan and Katy Perry.
According to the ‘Side To Side’ hit maker’s post on Twitter, the proceeds from the show will be directed to an emergency fund that has been set up by the British Red Cross and the city of Manchester to assist the affected families.
On a Monday of 22nd May 2017, a suicide bombing happened at Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom following a performance by Ariana Grande the previous day. According to the Greater Manchester police, the attacker was later identified as a 22-year old Salman Ramadan Abedi, a Muslim with a British origin. Police reported that Abedi detonated an improvised explosive device just at the arena’s exit after the event.
A total number of twenty-three adults and kids including the attacker were reported to have perished during the attack. 116 others were injured some in a very critical state. This became the deadliest attack in England since the London bombings that occurred on 7th July 2005.
The attack came after Ariana’s ‘Dangerous Woman Tour’ performance that was totally sold out and attended by about 21,000 fans. In a statement directed to her fans a few days after the attack, the pop star apologized for any pain that her fans might have gone through after the attack and promised to do another show at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
The benefit show that has been dubbed “One Love Manchester’ will be televised live in the United Kingdom on BBC One channel. She had earlier suspended her world tour and even canceled almost all European shows after the bombing. Among the shows that were canceled by the musician were two that were supposed to be held in the city of London, UK. According to the musician’s publicist, the tour will resume on 7th June in the city of Paris, France.
Tickets for the ‘One Love Manchester’ show will be free of charge for fans who attended the Manchester Arena show on 21st May 2017. However, they will go on a general sale on June 1st, 2017. All proceeds will be channeled towards assisting the families of those who were affected by the bombings.
