Sony has unveiled the first trailer for its Mister Rogers biographical drama, starring Tom Hanks, and its indeed beautifully heartwarming.
“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is inspired by a real-life friendship between children’s television icon Fred Rogers (Hanks) and journalist Tom Junod (Matthew Rhys).
‘Neighborhood’ is directed by Marielle Heller, whose last film “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” earned Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant acting nominations at the Academy Awards for best actressa nd support actor respectively, as well as for its screenplay adaptation.
“Sometimes we have to ask for help and that’s okay. I think the best thing we can do is to let people know that each one of them is precious,” says in the trailer.
Written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue, Noah Harpster and based on the Esquire article Can You Say…Hero? by Tom Junod, the film co-stars Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Cooper.
The film is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2019 before it is released on November 22, 2019.
