Iggy Pop has premiered a new version of David Bowie’s Bang Bang cover on his BBC Radio 6 show “Iggy Confidential.”
You can hear the revamped version at 1:38:30 mark here. After playing it, Iggy approved of the song, stating that “it was a really good reading of the lyric”.
The track will appear on Bowie’s upcoming boxset “Loving the Alien,” which is set to be released on 12 October 2018 by Parlophone. The boxset covers a period of career high for Bowie from 1983 to 1988.
The original version of “Bang Bang” (below video) first appeared on Iggy Pop’s album “Party” which was released in June 1981. The song was written by Iggy Pop and Ivan Kral and was released as a single. It later charted at the Billboard Club Play singles chart, peaking at number 35.
A few years later, David Bowie covered the song as a promotional single for his 17th studio album “Never Let Me Down” which was released on April 1987.
