Creepy uninvited guests invade Darren Aronofsky’s first full length trailer to his new psychological horror-thriller “Mother!”.
The cryptic trailer shows couple Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem one day letting an unwelcome guest in their isolated house. First there was a strange man played by Ed Harris, then later a strange woman played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Both appear to be bad decisions as thing quickly escalate from there as a series of frightening images flash on the screen while composer Jóhann Jóhannsson’s terrifying score play in the background.
The trailer shows a suspenseful and dark overall tone similar to Aronofsky’s highly successful Black Swan from 2010, while also recalls another psychological horror classic Rosemary’s Baby.
Written by Darren Aronofsky, the film co-stars Domhnall Gleeson, Brian Gleeson, and Kristen Wiig. “Mother!” will be premiering at the 74th Venice International Film Festival before it’s scheduled theatrical release on September 15, 2017.
