“If Beale Street Could Talk” was the top film at last night’s “2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards”, winning three awards including for Best Feature, Best Director for Barry Jenkins, and Best Supporting Female for Regina King.
Founded in 1984 and dedicated to independent filmmakers, the Spirit Awards are selected by Film Independent Members members. Nomination eligibility require films to be produced for less than $20 million in the United States.
This year’s ceremony was hosted by actress and comedian Aubrey Plaza at Santa Monica, California.
